When Ada Athanassiou began her career in the eighties she set out to bring her European flair to an American audience. Using unusual fabrics and techniques for her designs such as chiffon, charmeuse and hand-painted silks, unheard of at the time, she soon developed a reputation for romantic looks and impeccable taste. At first it was difficult. She recalls, "Stores hesitated giving me a chance. I was told my work was too romantic. People wouldn't understand me." Taking the advice of store buyers at Henri Bendel Ada brought her designs over to their Bridal Department and met with a success that continues to this day. |

Preferring to work directly with fabric in hand, Ada crafts each gown on the dress form paying meticulous attention to fit and detail. Using only the finest materials available she designs and completes each look. Taking her most recent collection into account...luxurious fabrics and delicate embroideries draped into dramatic silhouettes, Ada continues to promote her ideals of romance and beauty. "My ultimate goal is to take each bride's dream and make it a reality." |
